WWE NEWS: Major celebrity entrant for 2013 Hall of Fame
Two hours before tonight's WWE Raw episode, WWE issued a press release announcing that Donald Trump will be the celebrity inductee in the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
New York/New Jersey-based Trump has been involved with WWE since the 1980s. More recently, he helped draw over one million PPV buys for WrestleMania 23 in 2007 when he put his hair on the line against Vince McMahon. Trump also "bought Monday Night Raw" in 2009 as part of a storyline, ushering in the era of celebrity guest hosts.
In 2012, WWE actually distanced itself from Trump when there was controversy over how Trump was paid for his WWE appearances and involvement. This was related to former CEO Linda McMahon's U.S. Senate campaign in Connecticut.
Trump's foundation listed Vince and Linda McMahon as donors, but WWE said in a statement that WWE paid Trump, himself, $1 million for his WM23 involvement, but did not make any donations to Trump's Foundation. A WWE spokesman said at the time: "As I understand it, the Vince and Linda McMahon Family Foundation has donated $5 million in total to the Donald J. Trump Foundation.” However, a spokesman for Linda McMahon's Senate campaign said that neither Linda nor Vince gave to Trump's charity.
In WWE's press release, which is below, WWE CEO Vince McMahon described Trump as a "global icon whose status brought an unmatched level of publicity and grandeur to WWE."

Possible Reason Why Ric Flair Missed Raw, New Show For The Miz?
As of last week, Ric Flair was booked for last night’s RAW from San Jose. No word yet on why he didn’t appear. The plan was for Flair to work last night’s RAW, tonight’s SmackDown tapings from Sacramento and then fly to Japan to work for All Japan Pro Wrestling. It’s possible they changed plans and didn’t want Flair there just to be in the corner of The Miz for his Beat the Clock loss to Dolph Ziggler.
- There has been talk of apparently giving The Miz his own YouTube show.

THREE THINGS: What Must Happen on Next Week's pre-PPV Raw
By James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor
Three Things That Must Happen On Next Week's Raw
(1) The Rock needs to get serious. Rock has deftly mixed comedy and seriousness in his first two weeks back on television building toward his WWE Title match against C.M. Punk at the Royal Rumble. However, next Monday's final Raw before the PPV needs to lean toward the serious side. Some comedy can help ease the final sales pitch into viewers's minds, but this needs to be Rock zeroed in on his target. "Six days. Time's up."
What would help would be that elusive mission statement of why Rock even cares about the WWE Title. When he's a billion-dollar box-office hit, has multiple movies in 2013 to line his pockets, and is only temporarily involved in WWE, why does he care about winning the WWE Title? Simply ending Punk's title run - snuffing out someone else's flame - isn't enough. How is the WWE Title going to make Rock's flame burn brighter? This question hasn't been answered yet; Monday's Raw would be a good start.
(2) Will someone step up and care about winning the Royal Rumble? Perhaps by next week, John Cena will be done taking a bowel movement the size of Papa Shango to focus on why he cares about winning the Rumble. Defeating Dolph Ziggler in a steel cage match this week should allow Cena to re-focus on winning the Rumble and getting the golden ticket back to the WrestleMania main event.
But, others need to step up. Namely, Sheamus, Randy Orton, Wade Barrett, and others like Kofi Kingston looking to reverse recent losing ways and suddenly be in the Mania Main Event mix. How about The Shield entering and vowing to take the Rumble hostage, win the match, and then crash WWE's "precious, little WrestleMania?"
WWE is coasting on Rumble match hype, with no one scripted to step up and show they really, really care about winning the Rumble. But, they should when the Rumble carries a reward of the big Mania spotlight that every person on the roster should be bending over backwards to get a piece of.
(3) Re-establish Big Show as a monster heel. Although not as important as #1 and #2, strong hype for Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio could enhance the perception of the PPV, especially in the eyes of potential buyers who want to believe the entire card has potential to be good, not just one or two matches.
Show played the bumbling big-man at the end of his exchange with Del Rio on this week's Raw, which was necessary to tip the scale in Del Rio's favor when Del Rio is just starting out as a babyface, but the scale needs to tip back to Show next week. Perhaps a squash match victory while Del Rio is watching, or an attack on the now lovable, huggable Ricardo Rodriguez to get people to want to see Del Rio get revenge. Overall, the "other" top title match needs a strong heel putting the new babyface champion in jeopardy.

WWE NEWS: Raw TV ratings are in - did the 20th Anniversary Show maintain last week's strong rating?
The 20th Anniversary of WWE Raw on Monday, January 14 scored a 3.24 rating, up one-tenth from last week's 3.14 rating for The Rock's return. Last week's Raw faced the BCS National Title game; this week was the first Raw unopposed by football in five months.
- Raw averaged 4.55 million viewers, which was up three percent from an average of 4.42 million viewers last week.
However, the Viewership Drop-Off returned. The third hour was the least-watched hour of the show, drawing slightly fewer viewers than the first hour.
But, in the demographic ratings, the third hour was the highest rated among key males for Ric Flair's TV appearance, John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler in a cage, and the Rock Concert.
Hourly Break Down: 4.50 million first hour viewers, peak of 4.68 million second hour viewers, and a five percent drop-off to 4.47 million third hour viewers.
It marks 24 out of 26 Raw episodes during the three-hour era where third hour viewership has declined from the second hour.
- On cable TV Monday night, Raw ranked #1 in overall viewers and in the key male demos, removing football from the competition.
In the week-to-week demos, Raw was up slightly compared to last week. The biggest increase was one-tenth among males 18-49, which reached the highest rating since August 27.

WWE NEWS: Rock & Cena on newspaper cover for Raw 20th
John Cena and The Rock are on the cover of Thursday's Houston Chronicle "Star" section previewing the 20th Anniversary of Raw show in Houston on Monday.
As part of the Raw coverage, long-time Chronicle columnist Ken Hoffman wrote about the history of Raw, noting WWE's flagship show started with Yokozuna vs. Koko B. Ware in January 1993.
"On Jan. 11, 1993, a 500-pound wrestler named Yokozuna sat on a wrestler named Koko B. Ware, who carried a bird named Franke into the ring, and one of the most popular, enduring shows in television history began," begins Hoffman's column.
Hoffman concludes: "Raw will be around another 20 years, and in some town in January 2033, there will be a ring with a good guy vs. a bad guy, and somebody with a mask will dropkick an evil rulebreaker from Parts Unknown. It's just wrestling or sports entertainment or whatever you want to call it."

WWE NEWS: Raw TV ratings - highest rating since August, strong third hour performance, more
WWE Raw on Monday, January 7, 2013 scored a 3.14 rating, up 40 percent from the holiday shows to end 2012. It was the highest rating in 19 weeks dating back to August 27.
The second biggest story was the third hour, which drew an average of 4.65 million viewers and increased 7.5 percent from the second hour. It was the most third-hour viewers since July 30 - the night after Raw 1,000 and official switch to three-hour Raws.
WWE benefited from strategic placement of C.M. Punk vs. Ryback right at the top of the third hour, which coincided with the BCS Title game hitting halftime. WWE also benefited from the BCS Title game being a blow-out, which kept people on Raw for The Rock's return at the very end of the third hour leading into a 15-minute over-run.
Hourly Break Down: 4.29 million first hour viewers (most 1H viewers since Oct. 29), 4.32 million second hour viewers vs. meat of BCS Title game, and 4.65 million third hour viewers.
On cable TV Monday night, Raw ranked #2 behind the BCS Title game's 26.3 million viewers, which was the second-biggest cable TV audience of all-time. Raw was #2 behind the BCS game and drew the best adult male ratings since Aug. 27 before the start of competition from fall season TV & Monday Night Football.
Caldwell's Analysis: A victory for WWE, who stacked the show with The Rock's TV return and Punk vs. Ryback to oppose the BCS Title game. Despite puzzlingly weak hype for next week's 20th Anniversary show, WWE should be able to sustain the rating next week. After that, though, it will be interesting to see where WWE settles in January and February prior to WM29 hype kicking into the next gear in March.

WWE NEWS: Two more stars enter Royal Rumble, seeds planted for Smackdown's top 2013 feud
During Friday's WWE Smackdown episode, Randy Orton and Sheamus were added to the Royal Rumble match at the Rumble PPV on January 27. Orton and Sheamus join John Cena as the first three match entrants.
By the end of the show, seeds were planted for potentially the top Smackdown feud of 2013 between Orton and Sheamus.
In the TV main event, Sheamus was preparing to drop U.S. champion Antonio Cesaro with a Brogue Kick to seal a tag match victory, but his tag partner, Orton, snuck into the ring to drop Cesaro with an RKO. Sheamus then reluctantly pinned Cesaro.
Smackdown concluded with Sheamus and Orton exchanging competitive looks, which could be a familiar picture on Smackdown in 2013 after WWE teased a full-fledged feud between Smackdown's top face stars in 2012.
Current List of Royal Rumble Entrants
(not order of entry)

Backstage News On WWE’s Big Raw Plans For January 7 & 14, WrestleMania Season Kicking Off
- The January 7th episode of RAW with The Rock’s return and Ryback vs. CM Punk is said to be an “all hands on deck” show with virtually every major big name being called in.
Then, WWE has the big RAW 20th Anniversary show on January 14th where they will be bringing several old names back. They may to bring back some names we don’t see too often since some just appeared on the recent Slammys episode. Being in Texas, appearances by The Undertaker, Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels are likely. It’s also expected WWE will make the first Hall of Fame announcement that night.
For what it’s worth regarding the January 7th episode, it’s said that when the show is over, “people will be talking.”

Latest On Brock Lesnar’s Return To WWE TV, Vince Ready For WrestleMania Season, More
- Brock Lesnar is expected to return to WWE TV for multiple appearances in March, likely beginning in late February. Unless plans have changed, he will be building towards the WrestleMania 29 match with Triple H.
- Speaking of Lesnar, his contract expires with WrestleMania and it’s unknown yet if he has re-signed for another year. WWE will be facing the same issues they do every year once WrestleMania is over with four of the expected top six headliners not appearing much if any at all after April – The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H and Lesnar.
- Vince McMahon is said to be in the “every show counts” mentality, both for ratings and because WrestleMania season is upon us. Every RAW show from now through the end of January is said to be stacked.

Michelle McCool Talks About Vickie Guerrero, WrestleMania Change And More!
Source: MichelleMcCool.net
***TO WATCH THE MICHELLEMcCOOL.NET EXCLUSIVE VIDEO VISIT THE VIDEOS/PHOTOS TAB ABOBE^***.
WWE Diva Michelle McCool recently spoke to MichelleMcCool.net. Here are some highlights from the interview.
Eddie & Vickie Guerrero: "Vickie and I have been good friends even before she started playing a role on TV. When she used to come on the show with Eddie, she and I became fast friends. Eddie was always around to help me; in the ring, advice — thankfully he took a liking to me. He was soft-spoken, very humble. You'd never know that the Eddie you saw on TV wasn't the Eddie you saw backstage; quite, humble, so respectful. He was awesome. Just one of the best entertainers — ever!"
Heat Magnet: "She's one of the most-hated people on TV, and I think that says so much about her character. She can get more heat than, I'd be willing to say, anybody on TV right now. Male or female. The boos are just that defining. When Layla and I would do promos out in the arena, it was just the most-fun ever! People genuinely hate her. I remember the three of us standing next to each other in the ring and we literally couldn't hear what she was saying because the people were booing her so loudly. I just thought that must be the most-awesome feeling, ever!"
Flawless Friends: "I love her dearly. She was one of the people I'd travel with because we both had similar routines. We both liked to get up early, go to the gym, and we liked to be the first people at the arena. We were always, from the day that I was on TV, locker room buddies. We camped out next to each other in the locker room — we'd have our own little corner! It was just nice to have somebody that you can just genuinely talk to. Good, bad, ugly… we've shared a lot of moments together. For that, I'm forever grateful. She's had a few stories that she's scared me for life from that I can't reveal, but she knows exactly what I'm talking about. She thinks it's the funniest thing in the world, but I don't find it that funny at all!"
Fighting For Divas: "She's helped me through a lot of things. She was always there for me. Sometimes people get reputations that aren't necessarily true and she's a great ear to listen and she's just a great friend. We were fortunate enough to worth with her some, and for a while there, she worked with LayCool and she was one of the 'Flawless ones' — and she'd be right there with us! First one to march down to Vince's office to knock on his door and pitch ideas. She was an instrumental part; she really wanted to help the Diva's division. Her being involved with some of us really did help the division grow because of her character and how much respect she had from everybody. She helped fight."
A Change For WrestleMania: "She always wanted to get involved with the girls. As far as in-ring work goes: she was the first one to want to get out there and learn exactly what to do. She wanted to make it the best possible by staying in character — doing goofy things in the ring, but more importantly, she wanted to take care of the person she was working with. I remember her being extremely nervous to do the Frog-Splash, which Layla and I renamed the Cougar-Splash. Originally, that was going to be Beth Phoenix, but that ended up getting changed for the night of WrestleMania — which really made Vickie nervous. When you start practicing with somebody you just get in a mindset, especially if you're not in the ring that often. So the night of Hall of Fame, we all get called into the back, and we've already had our rehearsal, and they tell us about the change to the finish — she'll be doing it to Kelly. Vickie was worried; about climbing the turnbuckle, hurting somebody, it not being perfect, but she did awesome!"
Truly Inspiring: "She looks awesome! The transformation she's had through the years is just inspiring. I can't say enough about her: she's a dear friend that I still talk to all the time. Love her and her girls to death — there's nothing I wouldn't do for her. She's a true friend through thick and thin. We will always be friends. Lots of great times on the road: lots of laughter, lots of tears, and lots of special moments shared together that I will cherish forever. I Love her dearly."
To Infinity…: "I think her career will be as long as she wants her career to be. I don't think she's going anywhere. I love when she's in charge on TV because people hate it so much, and I don't think there is anyone better."

Jim Ross comments on The Shield, BIG E Langston, complacent WWE wrestlers
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section ofJRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.
-Ross on The Shield: "I've been impressed with The Shield and how they have been presented by WWE in addition to the effort displayed by each member of the faction. All three men offer something special. None are overtly head and shoulders above the other and each has the opportunity to become special in their own, individual careers. These men are hungry and seem to be willing to outperform many of their peers within the WWE locker room to earn lucrative spots at the top of the card. More established talents who enjoy their own, self created comfort zones would be well served to look over their shoulders."

Michelle McCool Talks About Working With Beth Phoenix.
- MichelleMcCool.net
Never a Dream Match: “Everyone always used to ask when I was going to wrestle her or I want to see you in a one-on-one match with her. I think one of the most consistent answers for any of the girls when they’re asked “who do you want to wrestle” is Beth Phoenix — but that was never really the case for me, as far as an opponent or dream opponent. For me, that was always Molly Holly, Lita and Awesome Kong/Kharma. Personally, Beth was never the answer for me.”
Finisher Gone Wrong: For the most part of both of our careers, we were on different brands. She was on RAW for most of the time and I was on SmackDown. Never any ill words towards each other — from what I know. We did have the chance to face off pretty early on in my career [SmackDown, Champion vs. Champion] and that was the first time I had gotten in the ring with her. So she gives me her Glam Slam and I take it straight on my face because my arms didn’t come unhooked.”
Botch Phoenix?: “At the time, I was like: “Oh, man. I’ve never seen that happen before. How did she not get my arms unhooked?” I didn’t understand, but figured it must have just been a mistake. I never said anything, but I did have a concussion from that. But I’ll never give anybody any credit for hurting me — that’s just my stubbornness, it has nothing to do with WWE. I’ve just always been that way. At the time, I just thought she didn’t even know she did it.”
Truth Revealed: “Come to find out, and it wasn’t even that long ago, I remember getting the WWE magazine inwthe mail and flipping through the pages. Sure enough, she’s doing an interview in the magazine talking about when she gave me the Glam Slam and saying how bad my head hit the mat, how she didn’t unhook my arms and oops! I’m just like: “Wow. Years later, the truth comes out.” She knew that she did that, it definitely sounded like she knew she did it at the time. I was just like: “Dang! What did I ever do to her?” What was that? Was that my “I didn’t come in the ranks” welcome to the rings match — what? I didn’t care. I just blew it off.”
Difficult Times: “So she comes to SmackDown and LayCool was well-established by that time. WWE put us in a program with Beth and LayCool was just doing their usual LayCool stuff: Glam-A-Man, The Manazon… just LayCool being stupid LayCool. Kind of like when nobody thought Mickie was actually fat, nobody thought Beth was actually a man. It was just our stupid gimmick, and I use the term stupid affectionately.
Working With Beth: “It was definitely bumpy, to say the least. It was never easy. I understand that it can’t be easy on the other side of the LayCool gimmick, no matter how tough the exterior is. It was just definitely a struggle. Being a Diva in a man’s world, you’re constantly in an uphill battle; pitching ideas, trying to get TV time, trying to get in-ring time, the whole nine yards.”
Behind Closed Doors: “It seemed like we were on the same page — pitching stuff, throwing ideas off one another in the locker room, but then come to find out… that wasn’t the case behind-the-scenes. We didn’t understand why stuff would keep getting shot down. Steph, agents and writers would come to us and say: “we’re no longer doing this,” or “this hits too close to home.” Whatever. There was definitely some stuff being said on the other end and that made it a struggle. She could have just been at a different place in her life, we all go through tough times or confusing times — I just don’t really know what her case was. I’m sure people will start hating me for my own opinion, but that wasn’t a fun LayCool storyline for us. We had some good matches and I’m always going to do business, but I think I had a different experience with her than most people who wrestle with her or against her.”
Business Is Business:“I hope she’s completely happy now, she’s done some great things — but like I said: she was never a dream opponent for me, and that’s all I really have to say about that. Wish her nothing but the best, hope she’s in a good place and enjoying life. Sadly, my most memorable thing with her is that I’m probably the only person in Glam Slam history to not have had their arms unhooked… ouch.”

WWE Superstars To Look Out For In 2013
- WWE published a list of 10 Superstars to watch out for in 2013. Some of the stars mentioned include Team Rhodes Scholars, Antonio Cesaro, Wade Barrett, Kaitlyn, Ryback, The Shield and Dolph Ziggler. Here is what the article read for for The Shield.
“Ever since this triumvirate of NXT Superstars surged into Survivor Series and laid waste to Ryback, ‘The Shield’ has inspired untold unease among the ranks of WWE Superstars, leaving them to wonder who will be next in their crosshairs. Claiming to defend ‘justice’” in a WWE that allegedly lacks it, the trio was hardly shy in choosing its targets: John Cena, Ryback, Randy Orton, Team Hell No, and others who they believe embody a broken system that they swore to change before NXT. With Ambrose as the group’s mouthpiece, Rollins as its daredevil and Reigns as its bruiser, The Shield made its biggest statement yet by defeating Team Hell No & Ryback in a brutal Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match at WWE TLC, ensuring their reign of terror would continue well into 2013. And the scary thing is, they’re just getting warmed up.”

Jim Ross Comments on His Relationship with Michael Cole
Jim Ross posted a new blog at JRSBARBQ.com earlier today, and one of the questions he answered was the continued resurrection of his personal feud with Michael Cole. Here are his comments regarding that:
"It's amazing on Twitter how so many followers try to stir the manure with @MichaelCole and me. I assume they must be defiant, looking for trouble young men. For the record, there is "nothing to see here." I've enjoyed working with Michael since he first arrived in WWE and am happy that he is now the lead announcer in WWE. He's earned that opportunity and some day, likely not soon, it will go to someone else. That's just the way it works. Same for essentially any TV entity especially one that is more entertainment that sports. Our styles are different as they should be and we, as lead announcers, have entirely different products with which to work. Most fans don't realize how challenging it is to broadcast WWE in today's world with the addition of all the non ring oriented info that must be disseminated such as social media, etc. Michael handles that amazingly well. Better, most likely, than I ever could."
